PROBEMART offers GMW CPCO/CPC clamp-on (split-core) Hall-effect current sensors, capable of measuring DC–50 kHz, 0–16000 A AC/DC current, with an overall measurement accuracy of 1%. They are mainly used for current testing of electric vehicles, motors, photovoltaic inverters, variable-frequency drives, battery charging/discharging, electromagnetic actuators, etc. They can usually be used with various power analyzers, recorders, data loggers, and oscilloscopes for testing.
Hall-effect current transformers are based on the magnetic-balance Hall effect principle to measure the DC component and the magnetic induction principle to measure the AC component: when a current C is passed through the control-current terminals of the Hall element and a magnetic field with magnetic flux density B is applied in the direction normal to the plane of the Hall element, a potential VH is generated in the direction perpendicular to both the current and the magnetic field (i.e., between the Hall output terminals). This is called the Hall potential, and its magnitude is proportional to the control current. Hall-effect current probes are particularly suitable for high-precision AC+DC measurement scenarios.
Main features of GMW Hall-effect current probes:
AC/DC universal
Maximum measured current 16000 Apk
No risk of open-circuiting the circuit under test
High accuracy of 1%
Compatible with oscilloscopes of all brands
Typical applications of Hall-effect current transformers:
Switching power supply R&D measurement
Medium- and large-scale wideband AC/DC signal measurement
Power semiconductor research and development
Current testing for large electric drives
Current monitoring in the electric power and energy conversion field
Testing of high-power and harmonic currents
